Imagine not only being cheated on, but also losing a relationship while trying to maintain a medical residency. DontCheatOnAMedStudent paints a sad photo of a guy who worked his butt off at school, paid for an apartment, and maintained all household chores while his girlfriend was god knows where. That should have been an indicator right there of what was yet to come.
Yet the man was “deeply in love” with this girl, so he put up with his hellish schedule and still did all domestic duties while — as he admits — letting himself go because he had no bloody time to think about vanity. So, the girlfriend strayed, and the man says she constantly belittled his exhaustion and slight paunch. Once he figured out she was cheating, the med student retreated and licked his wounds. Then he waited until the time was right.
Before I get to this carefully orchestrated revenge tale, remember this — med students have given up everything and tolerated professional indignity at the hands of sadistic professors for years. They’re not going to let a significant other get away with stomping all over their Hippocratic Oath-taking hearts. This girl could have married a doctor. Instead, she let her crotch lead her astray towards a path of professional and personal ruin.
Fast forward a few years and she’s in a Master’s program in Europe an starts talking to me again. I’m on the cusp of finishing my residency and about to start earning the “big bucks” people think doctors earn. She asks me for another chance; I was tempted to go for it until she started verbally abusing me again over our Facetime/Skype sessions. I hatched a plot: I told her she’d have to quit her Master’s program and come to the states within three months (she was graduating in six). She was reticent to do so, but I told her that if she wanted me back she needed to give me a show of good faith. I guess she figured she’d hamstring me by trapping me with marriage because she agreed.
The day before she was due to fly out to the U.S. I told her I was lying. I blocked her on all my accounts and never spoke to her again. From what I understand she’s now surfing couches getting by on begging for charity from what few friends she made in Europe, and sometimes f*cking some dude twice her age so he’d throw money at her.
Don’t cheat on med students. We bust our asses during med school and if anyone mistreats us, we REMEMBER that sh*t for the rest of our lives.
Dammmmn. That’s some harsh stuff, but did the woman deserve what was coming? She must have felt powerful enough in the situation to believe she could make this relationship work despite her cheating antics. What a lesson she received. (Via Reddit)
