It’s been exactly one week since the world was gifted with the Pokemon Go phenomenon, and in those seven days it’s managed to infiltrate every facet of our lives. Go on Facebook, and all you’re likely to see in your news feed is screenshot after screenshot of friends and family stalking their prey in their homes and offices, while others have figured out a way to cheat the system altogether.
It’s madness, madness I tell you! So it should come as no surprise that this clip from CBS 10 News out of Tampa, Florida, features a news anchor waltzing right through a live weather report to play the game. “Is that a Poke Man?” the weatherman asks, as the female anchor breezes past. “She’s looking for Pokemon right now!” he laughs, continuing: “You guys have to be careful with these phones, these Pokemon! You’re just walking around all over the place!”
It’s true, while these stories have been mostly positive so far, there have already been reports of Pokemon-addicted players running amok at the National Holocaust Museum and at least one relationship ending indirectly due to the game. The app warns players to be alert of their surroundings at all times, but today, a live news report? What next?
