Snapchat filters are a very serious business these days — or so it would appear, anyway, when you find out what happens when you take them away from people. Yet, I know this will come as some surprise, but somehow Snapchat filters are decidedly less fun for those who are not the selfie taker, if you’ve ever had the pleasure of scrolling through dozens upon dozens of distorted faces in your Facebook feed. (Looking at you, “face swap” filter.)
Snapchat user mikeygrande has come up with a way to use filters for good, however. In this video he posted of himself pranking what appears to be a Target. “I’m up to somethin…” he writes in the first Snapchat at a Kodak kiosk, before you realize that he went around the store, took photos of models on point of purchase displays, distorted them, printed them out, and replaced them with no one the wiser. It’s a simple premise with technical execution and hilarious results.
