At 13, Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin Henderson on Stranger Things — arguably the best character of the hit Netflix series — seems to be adjusting to his newfound fame pretty well. The young actor inadvertently found himself a role model for those living with the genetic condition cleidocranial dysplasia, the condition that affects Matarazzo’s bones and teeth, which series creators The Duffer Brothers actually wrote into his character.
Further proving himself to be a remarkable young man, Matarazzo now wants to show his fans how appreciated they are. When stopped by a fan for a photo earlier this week, Matarazzo likewise asked the fan to pose for a selfie with him, which he posted to Instagram writing that from now on he plans to take a picture with every fan who stops him because “they mean as much to me as I mean to them.”
It’s only been a couple of days, but so far Matarazzo seems to be staying true to his word. He’s uploaded at least half a dozen selfies with fans, and his costar Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler) even makes a guest appearance in a couple of them!
What a freakin’ awesome kid. Aside from his fan selfies, the rest of Matarazzo’s Instagram is also pretty great, including this video gem I dug up from a few months back. What a dancer! So multi-talented!
