Hey remember books? What about bookstores? Not big box bookstores like Borders, mind you — I’m talking about cramped, quirky neighborhood bookstores. Well, after watching this video, which has garnered over a million view after barely being posted to YouTube 24 hours ago, I want to make a pilgrimage to Toronto just so I can visit the bookstore featured in it and buy some books there. This is that good. Consider it the best ad for the continued survival of books and bookstores around.
After organizing our bookshelf almost a year ago…my wife and I (Sean Ohlenkamp) decided to take it to the next level. We spent many sleepless nights moving, stacking, and animating books at Type bookstore in Toronto (883 Queen Street West, (416) 366-8973). Everything you see here can be purchased at Type Books.
My favorite thing about this is that it was made by the owners of an actual bookstore and not by a filmmaker. I think that — the time and effort they obviously put into creating this — speaks to the love and passion such people have for what they do. Well done, guys — very well done.
