Tim Allen Thinks Trump Supporters Are Being Unfairly Bullied By Hollywood Liberals

It’s no secret that being a conservative doesn’t make you too popular in Hollywood, as most people tend to think of Scott Baio or Ted Nugent when it comes to celebrity Republicans. Tim Allen, on the other hand, is an exception to that rule. The Last Man Standing star has never hid the fact that he’s a Republican, and on Monday night Allen appeared on The Kelly File to discuss the Hollywood backlash to Donald Trump with Megyn Kelly.

Although Allen did not support Donald Trump himself (he was a Kasich guy) he thinks the reception the president-elect has gotten has been unfair. When asked about Gigi Hadid’s impersonation of Melania Trump during Sunday night’s AMAs, Allen said, “I don’t think it’s appropriate in that venue, but again … I’m not a spokesperson for Hollywood, I’m a comedian.”

Continuing, he said, “What I find odd in Hollywood is that they didn’t like Trump because he was a bully. But if you had any kind of inkling that you were for Trump, you got bullied for doing that. And that’s where this, it gets a little bit hypocritical to me is that you can now bully people.” One one hand, that’s a fair point. On the other, when you consider the acts of hate that have been committed in Trump’s name every day since he was elected, a model goofing around at an award show seems to pale in comparison.

For what it’s worth, Allen says he won’t “defend the guy,” comparing him to a bad comedian. “To me, sometimes he acts like a new talent comedian. These are guys that have great material that have very, very bad comedy timing. And he’s got terrible timing.”
