Donald Trump told a woman to “get [her] baby out of here” at a rally in Ashburn, Virginia on Tuesday. The rally, held at Briar Woods High School, was attended by around 900 people, including protesters.
At first, Trump seemed to make an attempt to comfort the baby’s embarrassed mother. “Don’t worry about that baby, I love babies,” he said. “I love babies. I hear that baby crying, I like it. What a baby, what a beautiful baby. Don’t worry, don’t worry…It’s young and healthy and beautiful, and that’s what we want.”
Trump continued with his remarks about the devaluation of Chinese currency. Yet as the baby continued to cry, the Republican presidential hopeful changed his mind about being accommodating. “Actually, I was only kidding, you can get the baby out of here,” he said. “I think she really believed me that I love having a baby crying while I’m speaking. That’s okay. People don’t understand. That’s okay.”
This isn’t the first time people have accidentally taken Donald Trump at his word when he has said things, only to be told later that it was all sarcasm.
One lucky disruptive child, however, did not get ejected from the rally: a 10-year-old who screamed “Take the b*tch down!” when Trump mentioned his opponent, Hillary Clinton.
