Brett Morgen, the director of Kurt Cobain documentary Montage of Heck, promised that we’d hear some unreleased music from the Nirvana frontman when the film saw its theatrical re-release. Thanks to a film-goer, we now have audio of that.
The track is a solo song from Cobain that plays over the film’s closing credits. Due to the lo-fi demo quality of the song, plus the fact that it was filmed on a cell phone, the sound quality is not the best. Still, you get enough of a hint as to what it sounds like – a little more like a Pixies, one of Cobain’s biggest influences, than Nirvana, with Cobain singing in a higher range much like Pixies frontman Frank Black. According to Morgen, the film’s soundtrack will be released November 6, the same day as the DVD.
