Ivanka Trump continues to be active on her father’s campaign trail. She’s appeared at debates and delivered speeches on his behalf, which is business as usual. Ivanka and Donald worked together on Celebrity Apprentice, and she built a career in the Trump Organization, where she “actively participates in all aspects of both Trump® and Trump branded projects.” Ivanka now appears in Town and Country to talk up her dad for the magazine’s demographic.
The publication quizzed Ivanka about her father’s history of disparaging statements about women. Only a few months ago, Megyn Kelly asked the same question; and Donald subsequently called her a “bimbo” and trolled her on Twitter like a rejected crush. The elder Trump also appears to be grossed out by women’s bodily functions, as he labeled Hillary Clinton’s bathroom break and breastfeeding women as “disgusting.” Ivanka still says her own soaring career is evidence that Donald loves ladies:
“You could also list a few comments he’s made about men that are unflattering… If he didn’t feel that women were as competent as men, I would be relegated to some role subordinate to my brothers. I think this is one of his great strengths: He fully prioritizes merit and accomplishment and skill and ability over background, education and gender… I think he’s one of the great advocates for women, and he has been a great example to me my whole life.”
Much like The Godfather, Ivanka never goes against the family, but she admits to having father-daughter spats on occasion. Will she convince the Town and Country audience? Perhaps.
This seems like a good place to mention Donald’s September comments to Rolling Stone. When journalist Paul Solotaroff praised Ivanka, her father responded, “Yeah, she’s really something, and what a beauty, that one. If I weren’t happily married and, ya know, her father…” Ivanka’s probably heard “jokes” like this for her entire life.
