Presidential hopeful Donald Trump has a solution for how the globe can sort out what to do with the supreme leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea: Make Kim Jong Un “disappear.”The Republican Party’s loudest candidate presented this “unique” proposal on Wednesday’s edition of CBS This Morning. This decidedly Trump™ brand of bluster comes as North Korea has returned to the international spotlight over its arms ambitions. Trump says that he’d encourage China to be the force showing Kim Jong Un the door, although he doesn’t exactly give his potential partner much love by the end of his pitch.
“I would get China to make that guy disappear in one form or another very quickly.”
I mean, this guy’s a bad dude, and don’t underestimate him. Any young guy who can take over from his father with all those generals and everybody else that probably want the position, this is not somebody to be underestimated.
China has control — absolute control — over North Korea. They don’t say it, but they do. And they should make that problem disappear. China is sucking us dry. They’re taking our money. They’re taking our jobs. They’re doing so much. We have rebuilt China with what they’ve taken out.”
During Trump’s remarks, he was pushed to give a bit more clarity on what the word “disappear” meant in this context. As you can tell from our handy video guide on Trump’s take on international relations, the answer he gave wasn’t exactly what one might consider “cautious diplomacy.” To be fair, nothing in Trump’s campaign has exactly screamed “cautious diplomacy.” Considering that he crushed his fellow GOP candidates in New Hampshire this week, it doesn’t look like The Donald’s penchant for big talk will “disappear” in the immediate future.
