An Indianapolis mother and her infant were unharmed after a scary run in with an armed intruder last week. The woman, who has not been named, heard a window breaking in her home around noon on Thursday, and immediately called her husband to tell him it sounded like someone was breaking into her home. Unfortunately for the intruder, at least, things didn’t go according to plan from there.
“He broke in through the baby’s window, OK, and when he was coming out the door, my sister was coming out her bedroom door, he aimed and shot at her first and then she shot him,” said Eddie Ballard, the woman’s brother.
The intruder was shot several times and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but thankfully neither the woman not her baby were harmed. If only there would have been some way he could have seen this coming… Say, like this sign that was literally hanging outside the home at the time of the break-in.

Whether it may or may not have been safer to call 911 in this particular instance is up for debate, as most law-enforcement professionals would probably argue against firing a gun near a baby’s crib. But all’s well that ends well, except for the intruder of course.
