It looks like Justin Bieber has continued to grow weary with celebrity after 2015’s road to redemption with Purpose and the subsequent tour. After announcing that he was cancelling meet and greets in March, the “Sorry” singer announced via Instagram that he’s done “taking pictures” when he’s out in public.
“It has gotten to the point that people won’t even say hi to me or recognize me as a human,” Bieber explained. “I feel like a zoo animal, and I wanna be able to keep my sanity.”
In a follow up post, Bieber further elaborated on the request by stating setting boundaries “will be the only way I last. I wanna enjoy life and not be a slave to the world and their demands of what they think I need to do.”
The Biebs cited “feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression” when he first announced that he’d no longer be doing meet and greets, so it seems like the singer’s coming from the same place. Hopefully it’s not all to mask a rumored cough syrup addiction, because he’s reached a musical peak in his career and it would be a shame if it all comes to a halt. Either way, now if you want a photo, you’re probably going to have to snap a covert selfie from afar.
