Ubisoft brought a surprisingly robust lineup of games to this year’s E3, but they also delivered a fair amount of movie-related news. In addition to a confirmation that the Watch Dogs series is getting a movie, legendary producer Frank Marshall (Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park and everything else you love) showed up to Ubisoft’s press conference to present a new Assassin’s Creed featurette.
The featurette, presided over by Michael Fassbender and director Justin Kurzel, features a good amount of behind-the-scenes footage. Assassin’s Creed has a fairly stylized look that can fool you into thinking everything was shot in front of a green screen, but it turns out a lot of the movie was actually done practically, with real guys hanging from wires and jumping across ancient Spanish rooftops. There’s also a fair amount of new footage sprinkled throughout, including some cool-looking new fight scenes, horse riding and other fun stuff. This is the most promising I’ve seen the Assassin’s Creed movie look, so the video is definitely worth checking out.
Will Assassin’s Creed be the the movie that finally does video game adaptations right? Well, we’ve been here before, but it looks like this movie might have the best chance yet. Assassin’s Creed sneaks into theaters December 21 of this year.
