The elderly have had a long and storied relationship using the internet, as anyone who has ever been asked to “fix” a grandparent’s computer can attest. Every now and then you hear stories about what horrifying thing so and so found in their grandfather’s search history. In this case, however, Twitter user Ben John found something completely adorable when he opened his grandmother’s laptop.
Asking Google “please” and “thank you” seems so definitively British (considering it was tweeted from the United Kingdom), but perhaps it’s just that John’s nan comes from a time back when society placed a higher value on simple manners. And you know, maybe Google would like to hear a little appreciation now and then. Just because it’s an algorithm doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have feelings, dammit.
