It is a massive, massive week for soccer emotions. Between the European Championship and the Copa America, there are entire countries who are giving every last ounce of emotion to their national teams right now. Euro 16 has people brawling in the streets and has Wales fans experiencing every emotion known to man in the span of 15 seconds.
But Saturday night’s Copa America match between Argentina and Venezuela gave us a moment of sheer, unbridled SPORTS FEELINGS.
Yes, we have all been there. We have all felt the crushing, soul-shattering sports emotions that this man is feeling right at this moment. Thank heaven none of us were captured on live, international television during our moment of darkness.
I’d like to say things turned around for this poor Venezuela fan. I’d like to be able to tell you that good sports feelings triumphed over bad. Alas, friends, I cannot say these things, as they would be deeply untrue. The truth is, Venezuela lost in a 4-1 rout. This man will continue to feel these emotions. Possibly forever. Sometimes there are no happy endings.
And courtesy of SB Nation’s Hector Diaz, we have the necessary Simpsons mash-up:
This soccer fan is all of us who have had our lives torn asunder by sports. This soccer fan is perfection.
