There are a lot of question marks surrounding the DC Extended Universe at the moment, and one of the biggest of those question marks is Cyborg (Ray Fisher). We’ve already got a decent look at most of the other members of DC’s cinematic Justice League – Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman – but, aside from a very brief teaser in Batman v Superman, we don’t know much about Cyborg. He’s also the only member of the team who doesn’t have his solo movie set in stone – Cyborg is scheduled for way off in 2020, and there’s currently no writer or director attached to the project.
Thankfully, fans won’t have to wait until 2020 to see Cyborg get some face time in a DC solo movie, as Variety is reporting he’ll appear in 2017’s The Flash. It’s unclear how substantial Cyborg’s role will be in the film, but it sounds like it will be more than a mere cameo. Warner Bros. is currently keeping mum about Flash and Cyborg teaming up, but DC producer Deborah Snyder let a few details about the team-up slip a few months back.
“The Flash movie, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher — who plays Cyborg — are kind of our youngest characters, and they have a really nice camaraderie with each other.”
Word is, Warner Bros. does have big plans for Cyborg, and is hoping to whet fans’ appetites for the character with appearances in Justice League and The Flash. The comic-book version of the character has never really taken off in a big way, but comics and movies are different mediums. Nobody much cared about, say, the Guardians of the Galaxy until they became movie stars, so who knows, maybe Cyborg will be a cinematic hit.
The Flash will likely race onto the scene sometime in 2017, while Cyborg is currently scheduled for an April 3, 2020 release.
