Get ready for a special ‘Banshee’ event in LA, plus an exclusive clip

“Banshee” is coming back to Cinemax next month – and to Los Angeles for a special fan screening and Q&A I'll be moderating.

The unapologetic pulp drama, starring Antony Starr as an ex-con posing as the sheriff of a small town in Pennsylvania Amish country, will debut its third season on Friday, January 9 at 10 p.m. I've seen the first two episodes of the new season, and they continue the fun, intensely violent and sexual feel of previous years. I didn't get a chance to write about season 2 , but I really appreciated the way the creative team pushed things stylistically, going for an elliptical, dreamlike aesthetic at times when the story was focused more on the doomed romance between Starr's Lucas Hood and Milicevic's Carrie. (The episode featuring the two of them at the house he once hoped they could run away to was one of my favorite surprises of the year in TV.) That season comes out on DVD and Blu-ray on December 30, and we have an exclusive deleted scene from the set (set during Hood and Carrie's trip back to New York) embedded above.

A few days after season 3 premieres, I'll be moderating a Q&A with Milicevic, “Banshee” co-creator Jonathan Tropper and executive producer Greg Yaitanes, which will be preceded by a screening of the season's second episode, a few nights before it airs on Cinemax. It'll be at The Landmark Theaters in LA, starting at 7 p.m. on January 14, and you can sign up now for a seat at https://www.hitfix.com/banshee. In addition to the screening and Q&A, there will also be special “Banshee” and HitFix-themed giveaways. You have to RSVP in advance; no tickets will be given out day of the event.

Should be a fun night involving a show I've really come to enjoy, and I hope to see some of you there.
