Something to sing about: ‘Supergirl’ and “The Flash’ musical crossover set

So many announcements, so little time.

At the Television Critics Association press tour, the people behind The CW programs Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow broke a whole volume of news regarding what fans can expect during the shows” upcoming seasons. Perhaps the biggest item is that a much-discussed (and frequently denied) musical crossover between Supergirl and The Flash is on, slated for the back-half of the season.

EP Greg Berlanti, who said he lives “at the nexus of loving musicals and loving superheroes,” explained that the material will be mostly cover tunes as opposed to original songs.

The other significant item of note, according to Andrew Kreisberg, EP of all four series, is that one of the characters will explore their sexuality and coming out of the closet. When pressed for more information on who that might be, no details were given.

There were also other significant reveals in terms of casting and story. To make things easy, we”ve broken them out by show:

Arrow
Vigilante will join the series, but casting is still to be determined
Dolph Lundgren (Expendables) will appear in flashbacks in Russia

Legends of Tomorrow
Lance Henriksen will appear as Obsidian.

Supergirl
Sharon Leal (Grimm, Hellcats) will join as Miss Martian
Christopher Wood (Containment) will play Mon-El

The Flash
The main bad guys this season will be Dr. Alchemy and Savitar
