The U.K. will get ‘Doctor Who’ spin-off ‘Class’ well before American viewers

British viewers, you can mark your calendars for the debut of Doctor Who spin-off Class. Whovians on this side of the pond, you hang in there a bit longer.

BBC announced today that Class will premiere on BBC Three on October 22. Meanwhile, all that BBC America will reveal is that the series will come to their network sometime in spring 2017, along with the return of Doctor Who.

With the premiere update also came confirmation that the currently reigning Doctor, Peter Capaldi, will appear in Class” first episode. One young cast member of the new show, Greg Austin, tweeted out a photo of him and Capaldi on set.

The series is about Coal Hill Academy, which has appeared on several occasions in Doctor Who. The students there are preparing for their Autumn Prom when dangers begin breaking through the walls of time and space.

Steven Moffat (the man who is at once both Doctor Who”s most beloved and most despised showrunner) is executive producing, while author Patrick Ness is showrunning. Ness has another screen project debuting later this year: A Monster Calls, based on his own fantasy novel.
