LOS ANGELES – Taylor Swift was up for three Grammy Awards this year, and managed to take home one win, bringing her total Grammy tally to seven.
“Safe & Sound,” her song with the Civil Wars and co-penned by T Bone Burnett, earned Best Song Written For Visual Media, culled from “The Hunger Games.” The honor was handed out during the pre-telecast awards ceremony, but she and her collaborators all managed to swing by the Nokia Theater on the way to the Staples Center to take up the award.
“We just won a grammy for that. Yes!” she exclaimed, issuing a high five to Joy Williams. She also mentioned her joy in writing from the perspective of Jennifer Lawrence’s character Katniss.
John Paul White of the Civil Wars had a little fun with Swift’s enthusiasm and knack for success.
“I think it’s appropriate that Taylor thanks us. We’ve been carrying her for a while and it’s getting a little tiring,” he said before thanking his family for support.
“Mostly I want to thank. i told her 17 years ago when we ment that if things went the way thing i wanted them to, that I would not be around very much. and that’s an incredibly… asshole thing to say. She accepted it and bore it and loved me and I love her dearly with every part of my soul. So thank you.”
