Everyone’s BFF Anna Kendrick has, somewhat quietly, starred in six movies this year. You’ve maybe seen one of them (The Accountant or Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates), possibly two if you’re a parent (Trolls). It’s a dirty little secret that Kendrick’s filmography has more misses than hits, but that’s never held against her, because she’s so darn likable. So is her plucky new memoir, Scrappy Little Nobody, where Kendrick talks candidly about her career and that time she tried to high-five the first guy who gave her an orgasm.
After a month of hooking up with an unnamed gentleman and not being able to climax, she stopped masturbating to help spice things up between them. It worked. “So hey, first time I’ve had an orgasm during that whole situation,” she wrote, “I raised my hand for a high five. ‘Up top!'” The fellow didn’t take the compliment very well, but Kendrick — a sarcastic “specimen of beauty and lust” — knows what she’s talking about: she’s seen dongs all over the world.
In the book, Kendrick also gets blunt about Twilight, the definition of a paycheck job. “None of the other filmmakers I worked with during those years had ever seen Twilight, but the series kept me in room and board while I did their movies for no money. It was like the world’s most ridiculous day job.”
Getting paid to pretend to care about sparkly vampires? High five.
