Cards Against Humanity’s 2016 Black Friday Offer Has People Literally Donating For A Hole In The Ground

At 1pm on Black Friday 2016, Cards Against Humanity unleashed their latest annual fundraiser / prank / act of pure silliness on the public. While it might not be a box of actual sh*t like they did back in 2014, it is a close relation to their 2015 stunt that saw the company make over $70k selling absolutely nothing. For 2016, the card game is asking people to donate to help dig a hole in the ground. The hole isn’t going anywhere, it isn’t for any real reason, they’re just asking folks to donate to dig this damn hole. As they lay it out on their website, the reasoning is pretty simple:

What’s happening here?

Cards Against Humanity is digging a holiday hole.

Is this real?

Unfortunately it is.

Where is the hole?

America. And in our hearts.

Is there some sort of deeper meaning or purpose to the hole?

No.

What do I get for contributing money to the hole?

A deeper hole. What else are you going to buy, an iPod?

Now the company has donated plenty to charity over the years. For their BS stunt in 2014, where people were shocked they actually bought a piece of poo when they got it in the mail, Cards Against Humanity took money for the production of the boxes, ending with a total $180,000 and giving the leftovers to charity:

According to Cards Against Humanity’s Twitter feed, the boxes cost $5.80 to produce and mail, and they donated the $6,000 proceeds to Heifer International.

Last year it was a different story, as the company kept the money and gave it to their employees to do what they pleased. Most ended up donating charities of their choice, but it just shows the creative nature behind these Black Friday stunts. There’s no word on what will happen to the money from this year’s event yet, but they’ve raised over $75K to this point and still have at least 28 hours of digging left. That leads up to a question posed by the FAQ on the CAH site:

Why aren’t you giving all this money to charity?

Why aren’t YOU giving all this money to charity? It’s your money.

Many folks online are asking the same question, urging people to not “waste” their money and donate it to a charity they support instead:

If you’re feeling the holiday spirit, you can head over to the site or check out YouTube below to watch the live stream of this hole dig still going strong. I am not convinced the money will be wasted in the end, but I don’t expect the full amount going out to charity. That construction work is a little pricey.
