Konami is no longer pretending Hideo Kojima is just on vacation, and Kojima has moved on to a naked Norman Reedus. More specifically, Kojima is working on Death Stranding, his mysterious game which just premiered a new trailer with Mads Mikkelsen at The Game Awards on Thursday. Kojima also received an Industry Icon Award at the event.
But before Death Stranding, Kojima was working with Reedus and director Guillermo del Toro on Silent Hills, which looked awesome but was controversially canceled by Konami. Afterward, Reedus said a collaboration still “has to happen” and he was spotted hanging out with Kojima, leading to rumors that Kojima, Reedus, and del Toro may yet still collaborate on a game, which turned out to be true with the announcement of Death Stranding.
Fueling rumors were the little snipes they took at Konami (understandably). Guillermo del Toro called the game’s cancellation senseless, and Reedus posted a photoshop of Kojima drinking a salty mug of “Konami tears”.
Now del Toro is ramping up his ire. An hour ago (as of this writing) he unleashed a series of vituperating tweets, saying “F*ck Konami” and “Viva Kojima”, adding that “Konami cancelling SH after PT is one of the most moronic things I’ve ever witnessed.”
