Inspiration was all around on Tuesday’s America’s Got Talent. The one who likely stood out and earned the show’s greatest praise was deaf musician Mandy Harvey. She lost her hearing at 18 due to a connective tissue disorder, forcing her to relearn how to sing, trust her pitch, and use her other senses in order to get by. The 29-year-old tells the judges on America’s Got Talent that she was ready to give up before turning things around, performing an original tune titled “Try” in honor of that moment and proceeding to impress everybody in the audience, at home, and at the judge’s table.

Harvey’s performance was so good, it earned her a golden buzzer from Simon Cowell and an instant pass into the next round of the show.

The performance is definitely something special considering how she hard she had to work to get back the dreams she thought she’d lost. It’s also interesting to see how she performs, taking her shoes off to follow vibrations and managing through the music using everything she has left. Truly remarkable stuff, but also far from the only thing folks were impressed by on Tuesday’s show.
Thank you @AGT @howiemandel @heidiklum @OfficialMelB and a special thank you to @SimonCowell! This is more than I could have ever hoped for!

9-year-old Angelica Hale also took over the America’s Got Talent stage on Tuesday, showcasing a powerful voice from a small frame. Explaining how she wants to be the next Whitney Houston, Hale performs a version of Andra Day’s “Rise Up” for the judges and showed she wasn’t full with delusions of grandeur. Not only that, but she brought an inspirational tale to the show too according to Entertainment Tonight:
“Five years ago, we never imagined that she’d be here today,” Angelica’s father recalled. “When she was four years old, we brought her into the emergency room and that’s when we found out she had double pneumonia and her kidneys stopped working.”
Luckily her mother donated a kidney and Hale pulled through, getting a chance at a full life and television fame thanks to her talents.

Both will compete against each other for this season’s big prize, but they’ll also face some stiff competition. Obviously there’s Puddles The Clown waiting in the wings to bring his Pity Party back to the stage, but there’s also this dog that can count any number you ask it to.
Watching a dog on #AmericasGotTalent who can 'bark' to 20 while my dog sniffs my armpit. #goals

It was impressive and people do love a good dog, you’d just hate to see two young talents lose out to something that probably also drinks from the toilet.
