Let’s face it, last week’s drops were lackluster. We even had to temporarily re-focus SNX because of it. But we’re putting that way behind us, because hype in the sneaker world is already heating up again with several worthwhile releases this week. But first, some bad news (immediately followed by good news) if you’re a Yeezy fan. The long-anticipated new Yeezy 350 v2 Clay, that was set to drop this week, was postponed yesterday and is now scheduled to hit stores at the end of the month. Which would be a shame if two additional colorways of the 350 v2s didn’t exist. This might come as news to some, as they’re releasing exclusively in overseas markets.
The Yeezy 350 v2 Trueform and the Hyperspace are still set to drop on the original March 16th date, and both colorways are actually significantly better than the Clays that are being sold to the American market. Which — what gives, Ye? Want to snag them? We’ll tell you how to get ahold of the exclusive colorways so you won’t have to miss out.
Here are the five best sneakers dropping in this week.
Jordan Apex-Utility
It was only a matter of time before the design touchstones of the Nike React Element 87 made their way to other Nike silhouettes, but we never imagined they’d be coming this soon to a pair of Jordans. The Jordan Apex-Utility makes use of the 87’s signature translucent upper, with a lightweight Air Jordan 1 Flyknit underneath, for an ultra-lightweight pair of kicks. They feature adjustable heel straps and bright red tongue and heel tabs, the Jordan Apex-Utility sports red-letter Jumpman branding, and a hidden swoosh along the Flyknit upper atop a React midsole.
The Jordan Apex-Utility is available today and will retail for $200 at select Jordan Brand retailers and the Nike online store.
Nike Air Max 90 Mars Landing
If you read this series, you probably know that I’m a sucker for anything space related. These are no exception. Are they ugly? Maybe — I don’t know, and I don’t care because….space! This graphic-heavy take on the Air Max 90 is meant to recall the surface of Mars and is a call back to the 2014 Air Max “Moon Landing” release. Reflective detailing and metallic accents on the tongue, heel, and the outsole are nice NASA-inspired design touches. Add in the star-like speckles along the midsole and they are really selling that these sneakers are all about space. But what am I saying? I was sold before I even knew they existed.
Prepare for the Air Max 90 Mars Landing on March 16th! Pick up a pair at the Nike online store or select Nike retailers for $160.
Reebok Victoria Beckham Bolton Sock Lo
This is the second collaboration between Reebok and Victoria Beckham and the pair continue to be a good match. Taking inspiration from the 90s era Reebok Bolton Runner silhouette, this pair of sneakers feature a stretchy knit upper with textured synthetic and suede overlays and reflective detailing throughout, resulting in an all new original silhouette — the Bolton Sock Lo. Releasing in both a Black/Sahara and Wild Khaki/Sahara colorway, the Victoria Beckham Bolton Sock Lo is a high performance running shoe that looks as good as it is functional, another solid collab between the two.
The Reebok and Victoria Beckham Bolton Sock Lo are set to drop on March 15th and will retail for $250. Grab a pair at the Reebok online store.
Nike React Element 55 Gold Ranger
Straight up — Gold Ranger is a dorky ass name for a shoe. Regardless of the colorway name though, the latest iteration of the React Element 55 silhouette is pretty dope, with a subtle grey midsole accented with golden leather eyelets and bronze strip wraps around the heel. Working in contrast of the precious metals-inspired accents and tight-woven grey mesh midsole is a black tongue and large black outer lateral swoosh and heel tab. Nike seems to be in a rhythm of releasing new React Element 87s followed by 55s and both silhouettes are really starting to come into their own.
While the 87s remain the more popular of the silhouettes, the 55s are building their own fanbase up and in all honesty, have delivered more consistent iterations than their more popular counterpart’s record of hit-or-misses.
The Nike React Element 55 is set to drop on March 15th and will retail for $130 at the Nike online store.
Yeezy Boost 350 v2 True Form/Hyperspace
Who knew March was Yeezy month? This week marks the second consecutive week that new Yeezys have dropped, and while the Yeezy 350 v2 Clay release was postponed until the end of the month here in the states, the other two colorways in the 350 v2 pack are still scheduled to release on March 16th in their respective markets. The True Form colorway features a grey upper with orange accents hidden behind translucent materials, and the Hyperspace colorway features the same design with white accents underneath the grey upper and midsole.
The 350 v2 True Form is being sold exclusively in Europe, Russia, and Ukraine, and the Hyperspace will be exclusive to the Asian and Australian market. Both pairs will retail for $220 at select Adidas retailers and Adidas online stores. And don’t worry, even though these are region-exclusive, you can access the UK and Australian Adidas stores online to grab a pair. They both ship to the United States and are easily navigable in English. You can also find them both aftermarket on StockX.
