“Warning, if you are easily creeped out, this video will not be easy to watch.” That’s what the article at Slash Film says about this Screen Junkies exclusive video. In it, Hal Rudnik visits Shia LaBeouf at his #IAMSORRY exhibit and confronts him with some old Disney Channel clips.
I gotta say, I was more annoyed than creeped out. Shia LaBeouf is annoying personality at the moment, but good old Hal Rudnick was a little annoying himself.
In fact I feel performance art in general is pretty annoying, but that just my personal opinion. A lot of people like it and a lot of folks think it is an acceptable form of expression. Clear Shia LaBeouf is a fan, so much that this apology tour might be a riff on yet another previous idea. The inspiration this time comes from famous performance artist Marina Abramovic. From E Online:
“First of all, I can’t think that this is directly related to me,” Abramovic told Vulture. “He has a paper bag on his head, is that right? I’m very happy people are inspired by [my] work, but this is not the same work. I don’t see it as anything to do with me.”
“It’s so manipulative, and it’s so complicated to answer,” she continued. “It’s very interesting to me that the Hollywood world wanted to go back to performance, which is something so different than what they are doing. Maybe they need our experience; maybe they need simplicity; maybe they need to be connected to [the] direct public, which, you know, being a Hollywood actor doesn’t permit you.”
“I don’t know [LaBeouf]’s reasons,” Abramovic continued. “We have to ask him.”
Someone should tell Marina that asking him isn’t going to do any good either. He’s not big on talking at the moment.
And for the record, I can’t accept an apology that isn’t spoken or directed at me. He should have the decency to apologize to my face. If you go and see him during this “event,” pass along my message.
Also someone try to feed him a sandwich. I’m just curious if the boy is eating properly.
