Holy Sh*t, Edgar Wright Just Dropped Out Of ‘Ant-Man’

Marvel Studios has just announced that Edgar Wright is no longer directing their Ant-Man movie starring Paul Rudd as the Scott Lang Ant-Man, Michael Douglas as the Hank Pym Ant-Man, and Evangeline Lilly as Lang’s love interest, who’s rumored to be either The Wasp or Hank Pym’s daughter.

One of the things we loved about this movie is that a quirkier director was given the reins, the same reason Guardians of the Galaxy looks delightfully batsh*t with James Gunn at the helm. Edgar Wright directed the Cornetto Trilogy and Scott Pilgrim, but now he walks away from the Marvel Universe over “differences in their vision of the film”.

Said Marvel:

“Marvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that the studio and director have parted ways on ANT-MAN due to differences in their vision of the film. The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.”

Ant-Man was originally set to start production in April, so they better get moving.

I’ll admit I’m disappointed. Especially since they waited till late in the day before a holiday weekend to make the announcement, meaning I’m here writing when I should be doing Hank Pym levels of drinking. Not cool, Marvel. Just for that, we’re going to show everyone this AMAZING LEAKED FOOTAGE of Paul Rudd as Ant-Man.
