With Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Jerry Seinfeld has managed to create a fun and engaging talk show without the constraints of a nightly network job, boring celebrity plugs, and a stuffy studio. I’ll give full credit to the impact of Seinfeld when assessing how its star and co-creator was able to initially pull that off on a streaming service that almost no one had heard of, but the show’s continuing success (70 million streams) is all about the quality product that Seinfeld and his team keep churning out. A product that is going to continue for at least another season on Crackle.
According to Deadline’s coverage of the TCAs, the sixth season of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee will begin streaming sometime in April.
As of right now, there are no confirmed guests. Personally, I want to see an episode with Julia Louis-Dreyfus (the only Seinfeld principle that hasn’t appeared on the show), one with Lorne Michaels in the side-car of a motorcycle, and one with Tony Hale and Joel McHale in a multi-toned Cutlass Ciera that takes a ride into the heart of face melting cocaine fever dream. I’m sure we all have our wish lists, though.
