It pays to be a fan of Taylor Swift. Literally.
If you’re one of the millions of people who follow America’s favorite “it girl” on Twitter, buy her platinum selling CDs and care more about the lives of her cats Olivia Benson and Meredith Grey than you do some of your own family members, the “Blank Space” singer won’t just write your name, she’ll write you a big check. Rebekah Bortniker is a loyal Swiftie and she can attest to that.
The young lady got creative and made a mash-up of Swift and some of her famous gal pals set to the Friends theme song and intro. Swift obviously saw it because she left one of her signature emojis for Bortniker, and a few days later a package arrived on the girl’s doorstep. Inside was a handwritten letter in which Swift admitted her shortcomings as a painter (you can’t be good at everything girl) and thanked Bortniker for her support. But this is the woman who invented her own holiday so of course, Swift didn’t end there. The box also contained a piece of jewelry belonging to Swift, a picture of Swift painting a picture, said painting and, oh yeah, a check for $1,989 to help Bortniker with her student loans.
Obviously, that sum probably doesn’t even begin to cover what Bortniker owes our wonderful government in turn for a decent education, but it does shamelessly promote T. Swift’s new album and that’s all that really matters. Just kidding. (See, she’s so freaking nice I can’t even make a tiny jab at her without feeling bad. Damn you Swift!)
