Donald Trump, also known as the source of hope for our collective political future, has vowed to conduct his own investigation to see if newly-announced and Canadian-born Republican presidential candidate Senator Ted Cruz is eligible to run. And after spending all that hot air trying to get President Obama to admit he was born in Kenya, it’s a good thing he’s on the case with Cruz.
Trump spoke to the local New York affiliate of Fox News to provide his Very Important Opinion on the Canadian birthplace of Ted Cruz and how it affects his presidential campaign:
“Well he’s got, you know, a hurdle that nobody else seems to have at this moment,” Trump said by phone. “It’s a hurdle and somebody could certainly look at it very seriously.” Noting that Cruz was born in Canada, Trump said, “you’re supposed to be born in this country, so I just don’t know how the courts would rule on it. But it’s an additional hurdle that he has that no one else seems to have.”
Obviously, Trump likes to keep people guessing about his next moves, even though if Cruz is suddenly found to be an ineligible Canadian (which he’s not), that just leaves more room for Trumpy to run. If, you know, he feels like it. The same way he may or may not continue his contract with NBC and Celebrity Apprentice because he’s “doing something else.”
