We’ve all felt like giving up from time to time. It’s easy to fall into those funks that sometimes can evolve into something more devastating and it’s even easier to feel that everything is pointless. Luckily, there are always avenues where people can find support and find some strength to move past. It could be medications, it could be great experiences, and it can even be a few words from somebody you may admire.

That’s where this Tweet from J.K. Rowling fan Brocaesar comes from. They pose a question to the author, asking for some words for someone who is ready to give up:

Rowling proceeded to roll over an answer over several posts, highlighting some of the wonders that the world has to offer.

As The Huffington Post highlights, Rowling dealt with her own issues early in her career and revealed some of the details of her experiences back in a 2008 interview:

“Mid-20s life circumstances were poor and I really plummeted,” she said at the time. “We’re talking suicidal thoughts here, we’re not talking ‘I’m a little bit miserable.'”

“I have never been remotely ashamed of having been depressed. Never,” Rowling said in the interview. “What’s to be ashamed of? I went through a really rough time and I am quite proud that I got out of that.”

Others chimed in with their own encouraging words and it seemed to have a good effect on Brocaesar at the end of it all.

It’s hard for me not to be cynical, so It’s probably better to let the words and Tweets speak for themselves. We all deal with things in a different way and it’s nice that folks can find some positive things in unexpected places.
