Starring in a campaign advertisement for Hillary Clinton isn’t the only thing Khizr Khan has done since he and his wife, Ghazala Khan, made headlines at the Democratic National Convention. The father of Army Capt. Humayun Khan, who died while defending his fellow soldiers from an Iraqi suicide bomber in 2004, stumped for the nominee at a campaign stop in Manchester, New Hampshire on Sunday evening. And much like in previous public appearances, he didn’t mince words when it came to calling out Donald Trump.
“Donald Trump, would my son Capt. Humayun Khan have a place in your America?” he asked, inviting the crowd to answer with a resounding “no!” Khan continued with the same line of questioning, but for other groups targeted by the Republican nominee: “Would Muslims have a place in your America? Would Latinos have a place in your America? Would African-Americans have a place in your America, Donald Trump? Would anyone who isn’t like you have a place in your America, Donald Trump?”
Then came the chaser to Khan’s repeated shots: “Well, thankfully, Mr. Trump, this isn’t your America!” Khan finished his speech and introduced Clinton to the rally attendees, but not before reminding everyone to vote on Tuesday and “prove America belongs to all of us.”
After the Khan family called Trump out over the summer, the boisterous presidential candidate and his surrogates counter-attacked with a number of outrageous claims. As a result, fellow Republicans like Sen. John McCain distanced themselves from the Trump campaign for attacking the gold star family. Hence why it’s probably a good thing Trump’s staffers were finally able to take his Twitter account away from him.
