This comes on the heels of reports that Mateen apparently may have been influenced by an incident involving two gay men in Miami in recent weeks. NBC news spoke to his family and his father noted that it may have been an inciting incident. The authorities are currently searching the suspect’s home for any further clues into how connected he is to ISIS, any further armaments, or other related items.
