On Tuesday, two men pledged allegiance to ISIS while storming a church in Normandy, France. They took five hostages and forced a priest to kneel before slitting his throat. Both attackers were killed by police, and authorities later revealed that one attacker was a teenager who was detained and released twice as he attempted to enter Syria. This horrific event is only the latest of terrorist acts that have recently plagued Europe, including a truck rampage that killed 84 people in Nice and was later claimed by ISIS.
Over at Sky News, the church attack became the subject of an investigative report — which strongly resembles the defunct Brass Eye spoof series — by crime correspondent Martin Brunt. In the above (now-viral) video, Brunt is seen standing outside a church and commenting upon how he could just … go kill everyone: “The morning service began 20 minutes ago and there are no obvious signs of any security. In fact this sign at the church door says ‘everybody is welcome.'” Brunt walks into the building and pops right out before declaring, “There are about a dozen worshippers in there and one priest. If I was a terrorist, I could’ve killed them all.”
Brunt utters these words without a trace of irony, and now the internet greets absurdity with more absurdity in the form of Alan Partridge (Steve Coogan) and The Day Today graphics. This is a true head-shaking moment.

Just looking at the @SkyNews newsroom. Everyone's very nonchalant and no-one's armed. Martin Brunt could kill them all.
