Lamar Odom is still unconscious and still battling for his life. While there were reports Wednesday that he was showing marginal improvement, TMZ has the latest update, which does not look good.
According to their sources, Odom allegedly squeezed his ex-wife Khloe’s hand on Wednesday afternoon, which was the rationale behind his supposed improvement. But he’s still breathing through a tube, and he’s still unconscious. That last part, according to TMZ, place’s Odom’s life further in doubt. The longer he’s unconscious, the worse his odds for a recovery. His kidneys and three other organs are failing and if obvious improvement doesn’t happen soon, his chances at survival will continue to diminish.
TMZ had reported on Wednesday that his chances at survival were at 50/50, but these recent revelations has to change that percentage. A source tells TMZ: “The doctors are concerned it has been too long that he’s been in this condition and now it’s not looking good.”
Remember, when Odom was first hospitalized, there were reports of possible brain damage because of how many drugs were purportedly found in his blood.
Meanwhile, around the NBA former teammates and coaches continue to talk about what an amazing person Odom is, including his former coach with the Clippers, Alvin Gentry. Gentry said on Wednesday that Odom actually called him after he was fired as coach of the Clippers in 2003, something no other players has done during his 27 years in the Association.
If you’re wondering why so many NBA players past and present have been so quick to venerate Odom as a person, and not just a basketball player, Gentry’s anecdote is a good place to start.
Despite this latest bad turn, if it proves true, lets all hope he can muster the strength to keep fighting.
