While he was out promoting his face-tat movie Ender’s Game, our homeboy Special K teabagged us with a juicy tidbit about a “secret Marvel project” that he’s working on. Oh, Ben Kingsley, you wry devil, give it to us straight, are we talking about The Mandarin here? Don’t play tight, bro.
From the Belfast Telegraph:
The Ender’s Game star refused to disclose details about the role, and would not reveal if he would be reprising his part as the Mandarin, which he played in Iron Man 3.
“It’s a secret Marvel project. I’m not allowed to say any more, you’re going to have to wait and see,” he said.
“I was with many members of the crew that were involved in Iron Man 3. It was lovely to see them again. It was great to be with this wonderful family,” he continued.
“I think they have enormous taste as creative artists. There’s nothing lazy or gratuitous about their work. They are at the top of their game, and they’re great company to keep,” he added.
Hmm, so by “crew,” do you mean, like, Shane Black and Drew Pearce, or veteran gaffer, Duct-Tape Dave Davidson? Nothing against Duct-Tape Dave or Microphone Mic Michaelson, but I’d be slightly more interested in the former.
Anyway, I can’t imagine The Mandarin would be enough material for a whole movie, but if Shane Black’s involved… who knows. The Mandarin reveal was my favorite part of any comic book movie for at least the last five years. Anyone who complained about that twist should have their eyes taped open and be forced to watch Daredevil over and over again.
