Gary Oldman sat down with MTV as part of his press tour duties for RoboCop this week, and in addition to the details of futuristic robotic police, he also talked about his role in the upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. A lot of times when actors are promoting one movie and are asked about another project, they blow it off with a vague answer as to give the audience a little taste, but nothing too revealing or elaborate, because they’re here to talk about the film coming out this week. For Oldman, that wasn’t really the case.
A lot of people have been complaining that Oldman threw out some spoilers about the latest Apes film, but all he really did was talk about the background of his character and the plot of the film. He didn’t reveal the important stuff, like if the humans defeat the monkeys or if Kate Upton plays a human slave to a wise but fair ape chieftain named Burnsicus. But if you don’t want to know the basic story or why his character hates every ape he sees, from Chimpan-A to Chimpan-Z, then you probably shouldn’t watch this interview.
