‘Batman: Return To Arkham’ Drops A Comparison Trailer And New Release Date

Earlier this year Warner Bros. Interactive unveiled Batman: Return to Arkham, a new collection featuring remastered versions of the first two games in the acclaimed Arkham series (Arkham Asylum and Arkham City). A prettied-up version of two of the best games of the past generation sounded like a good deal, but some fans were unimpressed by the first trailer for Batman: Return to Arkham. Unfortunately the visual upgrades to Arkham Asylum and Arkham City appeared to be inconsistent at best, and Warner Bros. eventually announced an indefinite delay for the package.

Well, whatever went wrong behind the scenes seems to have been sorted out, because Warner Bros. has announced a new Batman: Return to Arkham release date, and released a helpful side-by-side comparison trailer. The new video clearly shows Return to Arkham offers a good deal more environmental detail and better lighting, although some may still question what’s been done with the character models. Batman, Joker, and the rest appear to have an intentional “softer” look to them, featuring fewer creases and lines and more subdued lighting. The new look of Return to Arkham may take a little getting used to, but it looks to be a solid improvement overall.

Batman: Return to Arkham hits the Xbox One and PS4 on October 18.
