Every kid who can’t afford a console has found relief in those display kiosks in the mall. We all know them; the console, the TV, and usually one of the best games, all in one package — like a free arcade game. They’re bittersweet, those kiosks, because you get to play what your friends are talking about but can only enjoy it for a fleeting moment, until the machine resets or the manager boots you. Unless, it turns out, some Best Buy employees decide to chip in to get you one.
In the above video, employees at a Best Buy in Valley Stream, NY, surprise a kid who’d been coming in to play Smash Bros. every day for weeks on their Wii U demo model with a Wii U of his very own. What really makes the video is the reaction, because come on, would you have believed this was happening to you, at his age? He even got a ride home so he didn’t have to truck the thing back to his house.
And before you ask, Best Buy sells the Wii U for $300 or so, so this wasn’t cheap for the associates who did it. But they undeniably made this kid’s Christmas, and hopefully he’ll enjoy Smash for years to come.
