PCs, handhelds, mobile, console, indies, triple A, free-to-play — the gaming scene gets more diverse and difficult to follow by the day, but thankfully, I’m here ever week to guide you through what’s happening with games.
As always, I’ll rattle off five games I think you might want to check out this week. Keep in mind, these articles aren’t meant to be comprehensive lists of everything coming out that week so much as a nice rounded tasting menu. So, let’s get to it…
This Week’s Delightful Farming Sim
Story of Seasons (3DS, March 31)
For those who don’t keep a close watch on the latest farming game news, there’s been a split in the cult-favorite Harvest Moon series. The Japanese creators of the series switched American publishers, but original publisher, Natsume, owned the Harvest Moon name, so they made their own Harvest Moon late last year. Story of Seasons is from the original makers of Harvest Moon, but it has a different name. Catch all that? Well, all you really need to know is that Story of Seasons looks like another good, relaxing farming and dating sim.
This Week’s Co-op Run-and-Gun Game

Tetrapulse (PC, Mac & Linus, March 31)
Tetrapulse is a new multiplayer, gauntlet-like shooter with a cute art style and interesting strategy depth. Every shot of your gun will drain a bit of your health, but you can recharge it by touching a special stone you and your fellow players must dutifully carry with you as you blast alien bugs. Test your teamwork and your trigger finger. Here’s the game’s Steam page.
This Week’s Indie Smash Bros.
Paperbound (PC & PS4, March 31)
Paperbound is a new Smash Bros-like multiplayer brawler with a unique, hand-drawn art style and the ability to run up walls. Interestingly, Paperbound was designed by a former Call of Duty developer, so it should have its multiplayer game on lock.
This Week’s Indie Metroidvania
Axiom Verge (PS4, March 31)
Axiom Verge is a new Metroid-like action adventure featuring a super-detailed, creepy 2D art style and ton of different weapons and upgrades. More than 60, in fact. If you’re looking for some old-school fun, this game looks like it will deliver and then some.
Pick of the Week
MLB 15: The Show (PS3, PS4 & PS Vita, March 31)
Yup, it’s one of those rare weeks when a sports game gets top pick. MLB 14 was one of the best-reviewed sports games of last year, and this entry should provide more solid stickball action. This year, the game is promising a lot more sponsored gear, the ability to play as a bunch of different baseball legends and other new features.
Not a huge week, unless you like baseball. Any games you’re itching to get your hands on that I failed to mention? Hit the comments and let the world know.
