‘LEGO Dimensions’ Teams With ‘Harry Potter,’ ‘Adventure Time’ And More For Its Second Year

The whole “toys to life” trend seems to we waning a bit — Skylanders is a diminished force, Nintendo’s Amiibo aren’t selling out as quickly as they once did, and Disney Infinity has been outright canceled. That said, LEGO Dimensions, the game that lets you scan in actual LEGO minifigs and play with them in a digital world, is still going strong. A trailer for the second year of LEGO Dimensions content has just been released, and the game’s crossover craziness has reached a new peak.

LEGO Dimensions has hit most of the major nerd targets — you can already play as DC Comics, Back to the Future, Lord of the Rings, The Simpsons, Doctor Who, Jurassic World, Scooby Doo and classic Ghostbusters characters. For year two they’re digging even deeper into the cultural toy box. Big names like Adventure Time, Harry Potter and The Powerpuff Girls are on the way, but we’re also getting sets and characters based on Beetlejuice, E.T., The A-Team, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mission: Impossible, Gremlins, The Goonies and Knight Rider. Yes, friggin’ Knight Rider. And that’s not even all the stuff on the way! In all, 16 news properties are coming to LEGO Dimensions for its second year.

Packs based on Adventure Time, Mission: Impossible and the new Ghostbusters movie hit September 27, and new content will continue to flow in after that. At this point, I’m almost afraid what might end up in LEGO Dimensions if it survives to a third year. Will I finally get those COW-Boys of Moo Mesa minifigs I’ve been dreaming of?
