At this year’s E3, 2K Games and Firaxis announced the sequel to the critically acclaimed XCOM: Enemy Unknown. XCOM 2 will deliver the same challenging turn-based tactical gameplay as past games in the series, but now the research and base-management elements have been expanded.
This time around, you’re headquartered in a reclaimed alien ship called the Avenger. The above video introduces you to the various divisions of the the Avenger, including the research and engineering departments, the armory and, of course, the command bridge. As the video shows, you can decide what your headquarters researches and produces by choosing which projects you assign resources and manpower to. You can also micro-manage the appearance and abilities of all your soldiers, so it will be even more heartbreaking when they’re permanently killed during a mission.
While we’re at it, here’s some XCOM 2 battlefield gameplay that we haven’t yet shown you…
I have to say, XCOM 2 is looking pretty slick. It’s clear Firaxis has been given a lot more money to make this game than they get for their Civilization games. So, how do you think XCOM 2 is looking? I’m down for taking down some alien scum one more time.
