Man, Ryan Reynolds sure has a hard on for comic book movies. Apart from starring in Green Lantern 2, he’s also slated to appear in the Deadpool solo flick and the adaptation of Dark Horse’s R.I.P.D. But now it looks like he might have to drop Deadpool off his already crowded plate as Zach Galifianakis is in talks to join up with R.I.P.D.
If you haven’t read the series, R.I.P.D. follows a dead police detective who has to solve his murder to get into heaven, aided by his partner, who’s the ghost of a wild west sheriff. Reynolds has said before that he figured he’d have to choose between Deadpool and R.I.P.D., and if they can sign on Galifianakis, it sure seems like R.I.P.D. is the project that’s more on track. (Especially since than Robert Rodriguez is out as a possible director for Deadpool, reportedly in favor of music video director and first-time movie director Adam Berg.)
But keep in mind, we might be getting Zach Galifianakis as a ghost cowboy, who we’re assuming will be wacky. And that’s what’s really important.
