Over the past couple days we’ve covered the E3 press conferences of Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft, but what about 3rd parties? Sometimes they have press conferences too! Specifically, this year Ubisoft and EA put on their own shows and both unveiled some impressive looking stuff. I’m taking a much more quick ‘n dirty approach to Ubisoft and EA because, quite frankly, I’m getting a bit burnt out on press conferences, but we’ll quickly cover the important stuff.

Ubisoft
Ubisoft’s press conference made up for the lack of a Konami presser this year by being packed to the brim with unintentional cringe comedy. Basically the two hosts of the Ubisoft show obviously completely hated each other and spent the entire press conference undermining and attacking one another. Oh, and one host was a guy and the other was a girl, so there were weird sexual overtones to it too. It was bizarre. I’m not going to post the full press conference, but it’s worth checking out if you have some time to waste.
I’ve already posted Assassin’s Creed III, Far Cry 3 and Splinter Cell: Blacklist stuff in other posts, so we’ll skip right to…
Watch Dogs
The consensus seems to be that this is the most interesting game from a major publisher to be unveiled at E3. I’d have to agree it’s the most original, and it certainly looks like it’s going to fufill a lot of sullen teenage fantasies, but I’m still a little more into The Last of Us.
Rayman Legends
Sadly it seems as though they’ve given up the 2D art of Rayman Origins — at least partially. Rayman is definitely made of polygons. It’s still a very nice looking game, but the slight decrease in sharpness with the move to polygonal graphics knocks it down a notch in my eyes. Adding polygons will probably help sales though.
Shootmania Storm
For some reason Ubisoft decided to stage this demo like a gameshow. Probably because the game itself looks pretty boring/doesn’t seem to have a purpose for existing.

EA
Not much to say about EA’s press conference. They’re usually pretty dull with too much talk about sports, which as we’ve already established, isn’t something I’m apt to put up with.
Dead Space 3
Could have done without the snippet of nu-metal at the end, but otherwise, looks pretty damn great too me.
Crysis 3
Looks good. Not “I’m going to go buy a $3000 computer to play it” good, but you know, pretty good.
Fighter of Wars: Medalhonor
Oh boy, you get to go to Somalia! Sounds, uh…fun?
SimCity
My city’s totally going to look like that one covered in factories and smog because, well, that’s what all my SimCity cities end up looking like. I love ’em all the same though.
Well there ya’ go. What do you think of what the medium-sized guys brought to the table?
