‘Captain Planet’ Is A Lot More Honest Re-Enacted In ‘Grand Theft Auto V’

One thing that remains baffling about Captain Planet and The Planeteers is just how chill they are about this whole “we’re murdering the entire planet and everyone will die” thing they’re trying to prevent. It turns out all the show really needed was to be set in Los Santos; then, it gets a whole lot more honest.

Created by YouTuber Merfish, who’s made something of a habit out of recreating TV openings with Grand Theft Auto V, he is pushing the boundaries of what the game can achieve. Sure, it’s simple to recreate the clothes and Captain Planet’s iconic mullet, but, uh, let’s just say the Planeteers are a little saucier in this incarnation and leave it at that.

Myself, I’m wondering what classic TV is even left to recreate. We’ve seen King of the Hill, Arthur, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and that’s just what the internet has turned up. Really, at this point, it’s only a matter of time before entire episodes of obscure sitcoms are recreated using their audio tracks and Grand Theft Auto V. Personally, if we’re going there, I hope they recreate all of Just Shoot Me. The title alone makes it a winner.
