Fantastic Four is sitting at nine percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and this comes after rumored trouble with the director and rumored necessary re-shoots, and after the 3D conversion was canceled and director Josh Trank bailed on directing a Star Wars movie because it’s “not healthy” for him. The Hollywood Reporter says producers Simon Kinberg and Hutch Parker “had to step in to finish the film,” which is never reassuring to hear, although Kinberg did say the film came in under its $120 million budget.
Now, director Josh Trank is lending credence to those rumors of re-shoots, as he has tweeted (then deleted) that his version of the film was better. His exact words? “A year ago, I had a fantastic version of this. And it would’ve received great reviews. You’ll probably never see it. That’s reality, though.”

Well, Trank recently said he wants to do something below the radar as his next movie, and tweeting ire at the version of a movie the studio put out when it’s just opened in theaters is definitely one way to ensure your next movie is an independent production.
