Remember when news broke that both parts of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the new play written by J.K. Rowling and set to debut this summer in London’s West End, would be getting the book treatment? Of course you do! It only happened yesterday, and since then, everyone with a WiFi connection and a lightening bolt-shaped itch has been drowning the internet with all their excitement for the so-called eighth Harry Potter book. YES. THE EIGHTH HARRY…
Oops! Per Rowling herself, it turns out the soon-to-be published “eighth book” isn’t actually a book at all. It’s simply the script for the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play.
To be clear! The SCRIPT of #CursedChild is being published. #NotANovel #NotAPrequel 😉 https://t.co/3OhdOBIqJt

In addition, Rowling made sure to dispel the oft-mentioned suggestion that Cursed Child (in its debunked-novel form) was a kind of prequel to the preceding Harry Potter book and film series with the hashtag, #NotAPrequel. She was even nice enough to include a smile-and-wink emoji.
Meanwhile, Twitter isn’t buying Rowling’s attempt to clear the air. Everything from joyous agreement to enraged denial is on display in the 50-year-old author’s timeline, and by this time tomorrow, there will probably be enough text there for her to actually compile an eighth novel.
@jk_rowling you can try to calm the hysteria…you can try, but it won't work
