Harley Quinn was a fixture in the first Injustice game, which was basically an elaborate excuse for DC heroes and villains to whale the tar out of each other in grand superhero style. And she’s not only back for the sequel, she’s bringing her Suicide Squad teammate Deadshot along with her.
Aside from a change in her look to give her a bit more of Margot Robbie’s style, Harley appears to play a bit more crunchy this time around. In the first game, she was a nimble fighter, but this trailer shows her moving slower and hitting harder. It’s an interesting tweak to the character and we’ll be curious to see how she actually plays in the game.
Deadshot, meanwhile, makes his playable debut in the franchise and moves a lot like Jason in Mortal Kombat X, also from Injustice developer Netherrealm. Except, obviously, with quite a bit more in the way of ranged attacks, including a ricocheting bullet and a lot of point-blank shooting. Good thing Batman has both invulnerability and Kevlar in this game’s timeline, although as it is, being shot in the kidneys is probably going to hurt even if you’re Superman. We’ll find out just how much in 2017.
