Following a massively-popular launch, Pokemon Go has faced somewhat of a backlash in recent weeks. Most of the discontent was the result of a recent update, which removed the “steps” system that showed you what critters were nearby, banned third-party tracking apps, and mixed up where various Pokemon appeared. Suddenly trainers had no reliable way to find their quarry, and negative reviews and refund requests spiked.
Thankfully, it looks like Pokemon Go developer Niantic is working on a fix, as a new tracking system is being beta tested in certain areas. Unlike the vague steps mechanic, this new system more closely resembles the various tracking apps Niantic recently banned. Basically, under the new scheme, you can click on a PokeStop or gym and get a list of Pokemon currently appearing near it. You can check out a quick video of the new Pokemon tracking features, below.

These improvements to Pokemon Go come amidst impressive financial updates — according to analysts, Pokemon Go generated over $200 million in revenue in its first month. That obliterates the first month of other popular apps like Candy Crush and Clash Royale. In other words, the reports of Pokemon Go‘s demise have been greatly exaggerated.
