Last week was pretty sparse on the ground: we’re pretty much past the major game releases for the year, and the DVDs are largely focused on direct-to-video Christmas crud about adopting adorable animals and reuniting divorced couples, instead of important and emotionally satisfying things like explosions, although last week saw the release of “Super 8”, at least.
Nonetheless, there is some actually interesting stuff hitting stores this week, for DVDs. Games, on the other hand…let’s just say you’ll have time to get caught up with “Skyrim”, or “Saint’s Row”, or “Jurassic Park”, or “Assassin’s Creed”. Unless you really like fixing houses.

DVDs
Chillerama: We love anthology films, but since one of the titles featured is “The Diary of Anne Frankenstein”, we think we’ll be skipping this one.
Another Earth: If you’re a fan of speculative fiction, you need to check this one out. It’s more of a drama than an SF movie, but it has some amazing moments…and hey, it also features Counter-Earth!
Tucker and Dale Vs Evil: Stupid, but funny, and it’s always nice to see Alan Tudyk.
Vampires: “It’s Spinal Tap, but with a family of vampires.” Uh, yeah, that’s nice.
Smallville: The Final Season: Man, they just would not kill this show, would they?
Games:
Fix It: Home Improvement Challenge: Yes, this is for the DS. How’d you know?
Heavy Fire: Afghanistan: Or “Disappointing Game Grandma Buys You Because ‘It’s Just as Good’ as Modern Warfare”.
